Silverman
Adolph Silverman (1858-1942), son of Regina Schloss (1826-1906) and Uriah Salomon Silbermann (1815-1890), was born in Zeil am Main, Germany (in Bavaria near Frankfurt).
He had eight brothers and four sisters. He emigrated first to New York and then to San Francisco with many of his siblings. He opened a men’s clothing store in San Francisco on Market Street. His brother Urias remained in Zeil, although many of his children did come to the United States.
