Anne Licht Friedman

Hana (Anne) Licht (1905-1950) was born in Kopaigorod and came to the United States with her family in 1914, landing in Philadelphia. The Licht family moved to San Francisco where she attended the Polytechnic High School  which was located at 701 Frederick Street. Anne was very active socially in San Francisco. After long correspondences with both Sam Friedman and another San Francisco young man, Maurice Schneider, she married Sam Friedman in March of 1931 and eventually had three children. They settled in Los Angeles. Her brother James Licht drowned tragically in a canoe accident on the Russian River in July of 1924. She died at the age of 45 in 1950.

(To see the details, click and then use the + to enlage.)The Lectus (Licht) family is listed on lines 16-21, with Ann’s father Eliezer, her mother Iska, brother Gedaile, Chane (Ann), and sister Ete. It lists their ages, Eliezer’s occupation as a “trader” and that they come from Kopaigorod.  Note that two sons, Baruch (Benny) and Mayer are missing. That is because they came in 1913, through Galveston, with Sam and Sol Friedman.  On page 2 you can see they are going to see Eliezer’s brother-in-law, Moysche Maltser at 259 24th in Philadelphia.
