Amalia Manning
Amalia (Mollie) Manning was born in Germany in March of 1879 and came to the U.S. around 1875. Her maiden name is unknown at this time, but she was probably married previously to someone named “Meyers.” She married Thomas J. Manning (1872-1903), an Englishman, in 1899.
She and Thomas worked at the Cypress Villa in San Rafael, California, which was owned by his mother, Sarah. Thomas became insolvent and died July 20, 1903. Mollie then became employed by Adolph Silverman as a cook and housekeeper. She lived with the Silverman family at 2426 Buchanan in San Francisco.
Mollie died in 1938 and was cremated at Woodlawn Cemetery. Adolph Silverman paid for her cremation and funeral, including a hearse and limousines, and became executor of her will.
I invite you to send me any stories, memories, letters (even if untranslated), documents and photos concerning Amalia Manning and I will add them to this website.
